But this slick SUV has its limitations, as you can't tow it with a conventional trailer. You also don't get the luxury of leather or heated seats, and it's not as fun to drive as its gasoline-powered siblings.
Another slick entry into the luxury electric SUV segment is the Mazda MX-30, a front-drive EV that's available only in California, where it boasts an EPA-rated driving range of 100 miles. It's more of a lifestyle EV than an all-out driving machine, but it's still a nice choice for a city commute or for a weekend road trip.
The Tesla Model 3, on the other hand, is a slick looking sedan that's aimed squarely at the budget-conscious consumer. It's priced well below other electric cars, but it has some glaring weaknesses that make it hard to recommend.
It's also not the quickest vehicle on the planet, with an estimated 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 120 miles per hour. And its EPA-rated driving range isn't very impressive, either.
And it's not as cheap to buy or operate as some of the other new EVs out there, either. The standard Tesla Model 3 costs $70,495 - and that's before the federal tax credit of up to $7,500, which can lower the price even further.
In fact, Tesla's average sales prices for the Model 3 fell by more than $10,000 last year, and that's before the federal tax credit. That means that it could actually be cheaper to buy an EV than an older ICE vehicle, but we're not there yet.
While it's still too early to tell what the future holds for EVs, they are expected to dominate global automotive sales by 2040. That will mean a huge percentage of all new car and truck sales will be electric, according to Goldman Sachs Research.
